Are you sitting the new style RANZCP OSCEs in 2016 and beyond, and have limited exposure to simulated examinations? Do you prefer small group learning so that you can learn more about your own style and learning goals? Are you confused about the new canMEDs approach to OSCE’s or how to approach a consultancy viva?
Do you know how to present like a junior consultant when still a trainee?
The benchmark for passing the OSCE stations has been raised to ‘that of a junior consultant’ and now, more than ever, non clinical skills such as interview skills, time management and anxiety management are critical to exam success.
What is Present2Pass?
Present2Pass is the product of Dr Helen Schultz, founder and creator of workshops tailored specifically to the needs of RANZCP trainees as they move through training. Dr Schultz is a fellow of RANZCP and moved through the 2003 pathway. Dr Schultz and her team are consultants with diverse areas of specialty that can help you think and perform like a junior consultant.
With the new changes to the fellowship pathway, Dr Schultz has re-worked her unique program content to cover the key non clinical skills that ensure examination success. In addition, she has developed a new approach to consultancy vivas and offers brand new OSCE stations encompassing current hot topics in psychiatry, so you can practice and perform!
Why attend the Present2Pass small group RANZCP OSCE workshop?
OK, so we get it. You enrol in a large group lecture style course hoping you get all the content and knowledge you need to get through the exams without having to ‘expose’ yourself by running through role plays. Well guess what, it is better to be anxious in a small group where you can get constructive individual feedback than wait until you panic on the day. You also have no idea how you are performing unless you show others how you perform and leave with practical advice about how to approach the OSCEs.
There’s not much point in going over OSCE’s, you need to DO OSCE’s. And we have a fabulous bank of original stations (not past papers) based on hot topics and encompassing all the new marking domains. We also run a 3 hour mock exam with actors and examiners, followed by intensive feedback in the afternoon.
What will the Present2Pass RANZCP OSCE workshop cover?
We have poured over the new benchmarks and fellowship competencies required to pass the 2012 RANZCP fellowship examinations. We have re-visited the use of consultancy vivas and why the RANZCP have embraced them as an examination tool. Hence our comprehensive agenda that covers all of these domains, as well as a chance to perform and be examined at this level.
Our day will begin with a 3 hour mock OSCE (10am to 1pm). – followed by lunch, then from 2pm to 5pm you will receive your examiner comments and individual feedback.
What is unique about Present2Pass?
Unlike other workshops, Present2Pass RANZCP OSCE workshop utilises the talent and skills of professional actors and presentation skills including Glen Hancox. Glen has been playing the role of simulated patients for 6 years. He has a unique understanding of how important your presentation skills are on the day of the exam.
